Situation >
The Miami-Dade County Public School System sought the services of a
commercial contractor to retrofi
t its offices into a primary learning center. The school is
uniquely located within the administrative offices of Miami-Dade County Public Schools;
this provides the students direct access to educational professionals who implement early
childhood learning trends. T&G was selected due to their working history with the school
system and their dedication to completing a project regardless of its challenges. The
scope included new classrooms, restrooms, ceilings, air conditioning, new entrance with
ADA accessibility and one way glass windows for observation purposes. Additional scope
items included separation walls to keep school and remaining administration offices apart.
Action >
T&G scheduled three shifts for 24 hour work coverage in order to complete the
project prior to the start of the new school year. The team worked in collaboration with the
school board maintenance employees through a joint venture; this provided the project
positive public relations during school employee layoffs.
Results >
The project was completed within the allotted budget and deadline while adher-
ing to high safety standards. Due to their success on the project, T&G continues to have
a positive working relationship with the Miami-Dade County Public School System
Situation > The project consisted of a select renovation of the site , building envelope, and HVAC.
Action > T&G Site work consisted of restoration of the pavement surface, curbs, and the addition of flumes to mitigate water erosion. The milling and resurfacing of the pavement covers the parent drop-off loop, bus drop-off loop, and the parking spots. Additional scope included mechanical work which included new electric hot water heaters, new HVAC chillers and pumps; replacement of all exhaust fans; chilled water piping revisions, and replacement of chilled water isolation valves; refurbishment of all HVAC air handling units (ahus); replacement of all air dampers; electrical work included new fire alarm and intercom systems, replacement of exposed lightning protection systems.
